Bruce Greenhaus of JAQUEZ LAND GREENHAUS & MCFARLAND LLP

Biography:

 

Mr. Greenhaus has been an intellectual property attorney for 30+ years. He has had the opportunity to work with and represent some of the best technology companies. He was Vice President, Patent Counsel for Qualcomm, Inc. for 10 years, and more recently Vice President, Chief Patent Counsel for Entropic Communications, Inc., a midsize public corporation. He has been an adjunct professor of law with Thomas Jefferson School of Law. In the past, he has worked as an attorney in both large and midsized firms. He served as the president of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association (SDIPLA) and was on the board of directors of SDIPLA for four years. He returned in 2020 to serve on the Board of the SDIPLA for another four years and was again President of the SDIPLA. In addition, he has served on the board of directors for the San Diego chapter of Jewish National Fund, on the board of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and is current an advisor on the board of several companies. He authored an article that was cited by Chism on Patents, which is the leading treatise on patent law. Mr. Greenhaus was also awarded the “Gina Maria Escarce Memorial Award” for “contributing to the understanding of complex legal issues.” He has been named a “San Diego Top Lawyer” by San Diego Magazine several times, including in 2021 and 2022.

Roberta Lynch of JAQUEZ LAND GREENHAUS & MCFARLAND LLP

Biography:

 

Roberta Young is a high-technology IP prosecution and litigation partner. Her decades-long practice in intellectual property law focuses on helping technology companies actively grow assets, acquire other companies, license new products and protect their IP assets. Her career began in engineering, where she was awarded her own patent (U.S. Patent 4,963,425). She has deep engineering experience and technical acumen as well as business and legal insight.

Ms. Young advises on strategy and risk management for patent and trademark issues. She directs clients on significant patent portfolio transactions, both acquisitions and divestitures, with each involving thousands of patents. She’s built a 1000+ patent portfolio, supported licensing revenues of more than $20 million, and completed a $1 billion merger. An industry expert and thought leader, Ms. Young advises technology managers, outside counsel, stakeholders and executives and provides innovative solutions for technology patents through claim charting, due diligence and assessments for offensive and defensive use. She is adept at navigating the legal nuances of patent preparation, enforcement, IP management and litigation for clients ranging from domestic and foreign multinational companies, to technology startups.
