Christopher Sanderson, SMIEEE of IEEE

Biography:

Christopher earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a military Officer Commission in the United States Army Air Defense Artillery from Prairie View A&M University in 1995. During his military service in the United States Army Reserves, he gained experience across both Enlisted and Officer ranks, receiving multiple commendations and completing honorable tours of duty.

His professional career spans leadership roles at global Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 corporations in the electrical and energy sectors, including Schneider Electric, General Electric (GE), Siemens Energy & Automation, ABB (Asea Brown Boveri), and Doosan GridTech. He has also completed several advanced training programs in Energy, Power, and Distribution, such as Schneider Electric’s Field Sales Orientation, General Electric’s Technical Sales Program, and the Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Program.

Currently, Christopher serves as the Region 5 Director-Elect of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), one of the world’s largest professional organizations with over 460,000 members worldwide. IEEE plays a key role in developing industry standards followed by governments, companies, and institutions, including the National Electric Code (NEC). The organization also leads innovation in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, and Smart Grid Systems, contributing to more than 1,700 active standards globally.
