Silicone rubber composites are widely used in transformer bushing insulation due to their excellent electrical and thermal properties. However, prolonged exposure to mineral oil can degrade their performance, impacting reliability in high-voltage environments. This webinar, led by Dr. Palash Mishra, will explore the effects of oil exposure on RTV silicone rubber and its composites, focusing on changes in mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties.

Silicone rubber composites play a crucial role in transformer bushing insulation, but prolonged exposure to mineral oil can degrade their properties. This talk examines the impact of oil exposure on RTV silicone rubber and its composites, focusing on changes in mechanical, electrical, and thermal performance. It highlights the importance of advanced material characterization techniques, including SEM, 3D microscopy, shore hardness testing, BDV, PTI, TGA, DTA, IR thermography, IPT-E (IEC 60587), FTIR, and EDAX, in assessing silicone rubber composites in oil-exposed high-voltage environments and provides insights into enhancing their durability for transformer applications.
Biography:
Dr. Palash Mishra is a distinguished researcher in the field of high-voltage engineering and polymeric insulation materials. He is currently affiliated with Department of EEE, NIT Warangal, where he focuses on dielectric materials, composite insulators, and transformer insulation systems.
With extensive experience in material aging analysis, electrical insulation diagnostics, and high-voltage applications, Dr. Mishra has contributed significantly to the field through scientific publications, industry collaborations, and advanced material characterization studies. His expertise includes silicone rubber composites, electrical insulation performance, and reliability enhancement techniques using methods such as SEM, FTIR, TGA, BDV, and IR thermography.
Dr. Mishra’s research on the impact of oil exposure on silicone rubber composites provides critical insights into improving the durability and performance of transformer insulation systems.
