İSMAİL EMRE GEÇGEL
Biography:
Chair, IEEE Trakya Power and Energy Society
Undergraduate Student | Trakya University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
İsmail Emre Geçgel is currently pursuing his undergraduate studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Trakya University. Throughout his academic journey, he has developed a strong interest in power electronics, battery management systems, communication security, and microcontroller-based systems. He has supplemented his theoretical knowledge with practical applications and laboratory work, focusing on topics such as continuous and discrete-time LTI systems, state-space representations, energy and power signal analysis, signal space concepts, and minimum distance decision rules.
As the Chair of the Power and Energy Society (PES) within the IEEE Trakya Student Branch, Geçgel has organized numerous technical events, panels, and student-oriented seminars. His aim is to raise awareness in the field of electrical engineering and foster collaboration among students. In April 2025, he successfully led the organization of PESDay, one of the most comprehensive events of the student branch. He is also the creator of the “Electricity 101” program, designed to introduce non-engineering audiences to fundamental concepts of electrical engineering in an accessible format.
In the summer of 2023, Geçgel participated in the Work and Travel program in the United States, working as a front desk associate at Mackinaw Hotels Group. This international experience allowed him to improve his English communication skills and gain valuable insight into teamwork, cultural exchange, and responsibility in a professional setting.
With a strong sense of leadership, social responsibility, and dedication to engineering, İsmail Emre Geçgel continues to advance his academic and personal development. He is committed to contributing to technology, education, and a sustainable future as a promising young engineer.
