Panelists’ Bios:
Xiaochuan Luo’s Bio: Dr. Xiaochuan Luo is the manager of Power System Technology group at ISO New England. He is responsible for the technology strategy, research and development in bulk power system operations and planning. He received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2000. Dr. Luo has been leading ISO-NE’s cloud computing projects and synchrophasor efforts. He is the secretary of the IEEE PES Corporate Engagement Program (CEP), Vice Chair of the IEEE PES Working Group "Cloud4PowerGrid", and past Chair of the IEEE PES Technologies and Innovation Subcommittee. He has over eighty academic publications, and won the 2021 Energy Central Innovation Champion award.
Hossein Lotfi’s Bio: HOSSEIN LOTFI received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of Denver, Denver, CO, in 2019. After graduation, he joined the New York ISO as an energy market engineer in the department of energy market operations. Currently he is a senior market solutions engineer in the department of market structures at the NYISO. His research interests include electricity market, power system economics, and integration of renewable energy sources in the grid.
Afshin Ahmadi’s Bio: I am a Senior EMS Application Developer within ERCOT's Grid and Market Solutions (GMS) department, focusing on the development, enhancement, and maintenance of core Energy Management System (EMS) applications. My contributions are built upon my PhD research, which specialized in parallel computing techniques for high-performance power system applications. I graduated from Clemson University in 2020.
Tricia Arling’s Bio: Tricia Arling is the Manager of Talent Acquisition at ISO New England. She has been with ISO-NE for 12 years and has strategic and tactical oversight for talent acquisition across the company. Tricia holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and possesses over 30 years’ experience in Talent Acquisition.
