Every engineer dreams of obtaining a patent. Stuart Shapiro and Patrick Finnan will take you through the journey of the steps involved, what typically qualifies and what you can do yourself and what might be best left to a patent attorney. Along the way they will share some interesting examples of patents, challenges from trolls and getting a patent in a corporate environment. They will also talk about how the patent system can be used as an effective tool for engineers learning about what is already available and ways to save on development time by reviewing prior designs. There will be ample time for questions, answers and networking so you can get specific information of interest.
