With rapid development of microwave & millimeter wave technologies, wireless components and systems are of prime interest now-a-days. At these frequencies, the circuit building blocks are closely related to each other via electromagnetic couplings and interconnect. Successful development of these wireless systems requires the definition of a platform with a high performance, low-cost technology to which the conventional planar techniques are limited in performance. Several studies on integration of non-planar waveguide technology with low cost printed circuit technology has been studied over the years. Recently a new technology has emerged known as "Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW)" which incorporates waveguide circuits in planar form & thus inherits the advantages of both planar & non-planar circuits. Realization of different components e.g. antennas, filters, directional couplers, diplexers with SIW technology have attracted much attention among the researchers in recent years. In this presentation, several SIW based passive and active circuit components and antennas will be discussed.

Biography:

Animesh Biswas received the M. Tech. degree in microwave and radar engineering from IIT, Kharagpur in 1982, and the Ph.D. in EE from IIT,
Delhi, India, in 1989. From 1982 to 1992, he was a Research and Development Engineer with the Indian Telephone Industries Ltd., Bangalore,
India, where he was involved in the area of microwave circuits. From 1989 to 1990, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Oregon State University. In 1992, he joined the EE Department, IIT, Kanpur, as a faculty member, where he is currently a Professor. He has served as a technical consultant for M/S COMDEV Europe. His current research includes modeling of microwaves circuits, RF integrated circuits (RFICs), and numerical methods for solving electromagnetic problems.

He is currently working as a director of NIT Rourkela, Odisha, India. Prof. Biswas is Fellow of the IETE and IEI, and  Senior Member of IEEE.
