Nordic IEEE SPS - Synergy in Signals: MR-Driven Biomarkers and Computational Analytics for Neurodegenerative Stratification
Nordic IEEE SPS Seminar Series
Join us for the second IEEE Nordic Signal Processing Chapters seminar**
Synergy in Signals: MR-Driven Biomarkers and Computational Analytics for Neurodegenerative Stratification
Presenter:
Dr. K. Narasimhan, Associate Professor, SASTRA Deemed University, India
Abstract:
This presentation focuses on the application of MRI-driven biomarkers for diagnosing neurodegenerative disorders, with a specific emphasis on Parkinson's disease (PD). The talk outlines a structured pipeline combining advanced imaging techniques, radiomics, machine learning (ML), and explainable AI (XAI) to enhance diagnostic accuracy and interpretability.
Speaker Biography:
Dr. K. Narasimhan, a distinguished researcher in medical image analysis and signal processing, has made remarkable contributions to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with medical imaging for the creation of novel diagnostic devices. With over 65 publications in esteemed international journals and conferences, he is at the forefront of advancing healthcare technology. He has successfully completed a DST-sponsored project and is currently leading two funded projects supported by DST and MHI. Additionally, Dr. Narasimhan is a recipient of the prestigious Royal Society Fellowship International Research Grant, focusing on deep learning applications for characterizing electrospun nanofibers using SEM images. As a mentor, he has guided four research scholars, with one already completing their Ph.D. under his supervision.
Attendance at this seminar is open to all.
For information on IEEE and Signal Processing society membership, visit http://ieee.org/join . Student SPS membership is available with just a $1 surcharge beyond basic IEEE student membership.
** We aim to hold these seminars once every 2 months, with rotating organization among our chapters. If you would like to help organize an individual event or help with the larger initiative planning, please reach out to leadership of your Signal Processing Society chapter.
We are also looking for speakers if you can recommend someone, or even yourself. What projects, either theoretical or applied are you working on?
The various chapters have a budget to pay for refreshments if you would like to make a hybrid "watch event" at your workplace or university for this or an upcoming talk.
