BMSCE IEEE PES AND Sensors Council- Cooper Station
On account of PES Day 2025, BMSCE IEEE PES & Sensors Council in collaboration with Singularity - The
Astronomical Society of BMSCE, organised COOPER STATION—a unique cosmic Ideathon where ideas
shape the future of humanity.
Problem Statement :As of the year 2178, Earth is no longer habitable due to severe environmental degradation
and resource depletion. Humanity faces an urgent need to establish a sustainable space colony to ensure its
survival. The challenge lies in designing a self-sufficient habitat capable of supporting human life beyond Earth,
with effective systems for energy generation, resource management, sustainability, and long-term growth in a
hostile space environment.
The participants had to come up with ideas and design a self sufficient habitat keeping all the above points in
mind and present it to the judges.
IMPACT:
An event like this pushes us to think beyond the boundaries of Earth and imagine what it truly takes to build a
future from scratch. It challenged us to be creative, resourceful, and collaborative—skills that matter not just in
space, but in solving real-world problems here and now. Working on a space colony design isn't just about
survival in the stars; it's about learning how to make smarter, more sustainable choices. It gives each of us a
chance to be part of something bigger, to dream boldly, and to take our ideas and turn them into real solutions
for humanity’s future.
