BMSCE IEEE PES & Sensors Council - AI: Bid & Build
In celebration of PES Day 2025, the BMSCE IEEE PES & Sensors Council, in collaboration with
the TEAMCODELOCKED, hosted AI bid and build — which is not just a coding challenge but also a
battle of brains and strategy with the goal of making clean energy a part of everyday life
Centred around the theme of Empowering The Future with Clean Energy, AI bid and build
challenged participants to design a software solution or an AI tool which would help individuals
and communities adopt clean energy in their daily routines, without requiring hardware.
What Went Down?
AI bid and build featured six escalating auction rounds, designed to test strategic thinking and on
spot decision making skills.
Each team was provided with 100,000 virtual points at the start and given 90
minutes to develop an AI-powered solution aligned with the clean energy theme.
The challenge encouraged participants to combine technical knowledge,
creativity, and real-world applicability in their solutions..
Participants then had to:
- Analyse the problem
- Make smart bidding decisions
- Keep track of their virtual points
- Implement and submit optimised code, and a presentation of their idea
These auction rounds added a competitive and strategic layer to the event,
requiring participants to make real-time decisions about point spending and time
management, while staying focused on their core AI solution
Theme Focus: Empowering The Future - Clean Energy
Clean energy is becoming more essential in our daily lives as we look for sustainable solutions to
reduce our carbon footprint. Your task is to design and develop a software-based solution that
encourages, educates, or enables individuals and communities to adopt clean energy in simple,
everyday activities.
By aligning technology with environmental responsibility, the event empowered young innovators to build
AI- driven solutions that not only solve problems but also contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable
and energy-efficient world
Impact
The AI Bid and Build Hackathon: Auction Edition had a significant impact on fostering innovation,
strategic thinking, and AI awareness among students. By blending real-time bidding with technical
problem-solving, the event challenged participants to think creatively under pressure. It not only
