DO LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION EMBRACE CHANGES IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION STANDARDS? NOT EXACTLY!
The officers of the Oregon/SW Washington Chapter of the Industry Applications Society invite you to join us Wednesday evening, April 23, 2025 for our dinner, meeting, and technical presentation. We appreciate the support of all who attend our dinners and presentations. Our “home base” meeting location MEGI Engineering in Lake Oswego is not available due to a facility upgrade, so we will meet next week at Easy Power/Bentley Systems of the Carman Drive I5 exit. Ample parking is available.
The cost for dinner is $20 with food from QDOBA Mexican Eats. There is no charge to attend the presentation only. Our IAS Chapter always offers free dinners for local PSU, OSU, George Fox, U of P, OIT and WSUV Electrical Engineering Students who attend our meetings. This is an excellent networking opportunity for students as our meetings are attended by many professionals in consulting, industrial engineering, and electrical equipment manufacturing

DO LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION EMBRACE CHANGES IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION STANDARDS? NOT EXACTLY!
Abstract: This presentation is a case study of one U.S. State and decisions by local authorities to selectively adopt articles outlined in the current edition of the NFPA70 National Electric Code (NEC). The presenter will review select NEC articles where authorities in the state elected to either dismiss revisions or revert to a former version of language in the code. A discussion will follow that includes possible reasoning behind decisions and offer recommendations on how local safety professionals can get involved to impact State adoption of future NEC revisions.
Presenters: David Durocher, IEEE Fellow, CEM Services, West Linn, Oregon and Sean Murphy, IEEE Senior Member, Engineering Manager, MEGI Engineering, Lake Oswego, Oregon
