SolveIT HackJam 2.0

🔹 About the Event – SolveIT HackJam 2.0

SolveIT HackJam 2.0 was the second edition of a national-level competitive programming event organized by the IEEE ISIMS Computer Society Student Branch Chapter (IEEE ISIMS CS SBC). Following the success of its first edition in 2024, this year’s event aimed to deliver an even more challenging and enriching experience.

The event was held on April 13, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Higher Institute of Computer Science and Multimedia of Sfax (ISIMS). It brought together around 60 students from various IEEE student branches across the IEEE Tunisia Section, creating a dynamic atmosphere filled with innovation and friendly competition.

Unlike traditional hackathons, SolveIT HackJam followed a competitive programming format, where teams of 1 to 3 participants tackled a series of algorithmic challenges under time constraints. These tasks were designed to assess both individual skill and collaborative problem-solving, inspired by well-known contests such as ICPC and Codeforces.

The event primarily attracted university students with a strong passion for coding, algorithmic thinking, and computer science. It offered a platform for them to apply their knowledge in a real-world context, enhance their teamwork abilities, and engage with a wider technical community.

🔹 Objectives of the Event

SolveIT HackJam 2.0 was more than a competition—it was a carefully designed learning experience with several core goals:

  • Enhance participants’ experience in competitive programming, by placing them in a timed, problem-solving environment that mirrors real-world technical challenges.

  • Strengthen teamwork and communication skills, by encouraging collaboration and role distribution within teams.

  • Stimulate creativity and innovation, as problems could be solved through different approaches, encouraging original thinking.

  • Facilitate networking and community engagement, offering participants the chance to connect with peers from other institutions and with IEEE organizers.

🔹 Impact on Participants

The event had a clear and meaningful impact on students. Participants:

  • Gained hands-on experience in algorithmic problem-solving, sharpening both their technical and analytical abilities.

  • Improved their ability to work under pressure and in teams, reflecting real workplace dynamics.

  • Became more confident in their programming and communication skills, essential for internships, projects, and interviews.

  • Discovered new opportunities for growth and engagement in the broader IEEE and tech community.

For many students, SolveIT HackJam 2.0 was not just a one-day competition—it served as a springboard into deeper involvement with coding communities, hackathons, and career development.

🔹 Impact on the IEEE Computer Society Community

For the IEEE community, especially within the Computer Society and the IEEE Tunisia Section, the event represented an important contribution to its ongoing mission. Through this initiative, the IEEE ISIMS CS SBC:

  • Promoted leadership, technical skill-building, and academic excellence.

  • Strengthened ties between student branches from different universities, building a stronger national network.

  • Reinforced the IEEE’s identity as a hub for innovation, mentorship, and collaboration.

  • Created a model for future events that combine competition, education, and community spirit.
