the New Wave of Nuclear Power Reactors - Promise and Challenges

Abstract: The past decade has seen increasing interest, domestically and internationally, in developing new designs for nuclear power distinguished by their differences from the large, familiar light-water reactors that product nearly 20% percent of U. S. electric designed to use fuels that are quite different chemically and physically from the uranium oxide pellets in common use today, development and regulatory activities, and discuss challenges to large-scale deployment.
