Industrial Visit to Defence Electronics Research Laboratory
On 11th April 2025, the IEEE GRIET Student Branch organized an industrial visit to the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), Hyderabad, which operates under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The visit began with a warm welcome and an interactive introductory session where students were given insights into DRDO's mission and DLRL’s role in developing electronic warfare systems. Officials shared valuable information about defense technologies, research areas, and career opportunities in DRDO.
After refreshments, students were divided into two batches to explore the facility in a more organized manner. They visited the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Chamber, where demonstrations were given on how transmitters are tested and how sensors and jammers operate at different frequencies. This gave students a practical understanding of how electromagnetic signals are managed in defense applications.
The tour also included a visit to the 3D printing lab, where students learned about the use of additive manufacturing in designing lightweight, durable components for defense systems. They saw how modern fabrication techniques help in reducing material usage while maintaining structural efficiency.
The visit concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students clarified their doubts and discussed technological developments with the experts.
