Executive Summary 
On 29 March 2025, the IEEE Bangalore Section through the IEEE Student Branch at Amrita 
School of Engineering, Bengaluru successfully inaugurated the IEEE Vehicular Technology 
Society (VTS) Student Branch Chapter. The event also featured  technical talks on “Vehicular 
Technology” by esteemed industry professionals from Bosch, Continental, and HARMAN 
International. The session attracted a diverse audience of students, faculty, and industry 
professionals and provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of automotive 
technology.  
 
Introduction  
The Inauguration of IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Student Branch Chapter (SBC) 
of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru took place at Krishna Hall, Amrita School of 
Engineering, Bengaluru on 29/03/2025 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm followed by lunch. It was 
designed to both mark the inaugural milestone of the IEEE VTS Student Branch Chapter and 
to stimulate discussion around cutting-edge topics in vehicular technology, particularly through 
the featured technical sessions on different areas of automotive mobility. The event’s success 
was built on the seamless integration of formal inaugurations, expert presentations, interactive 
discussions, and networking sessions. 
 
Speaker and Guest Contributions and Key Highlights  
• Dr. Anish Cheriyan: (from HARMAN International, Guest, Chair, IEEE 
VTS Bangalore Section) 
➢ Provides the IEEE VTS mission and vision in the vehicular technology domain and 
contributions by it.  
➢ Highlighted the importance of networking, participating in the insightful events for 
enhancing our skills and learning about newer technologies and aspects of professional 
growth.  
 
• Dr. Praveena Santosh Naik: (from Continental Automotive, “Building 
Automotive for the Needs We Haven’t Met Yet”)  
➢ Focused on proactively identifying and addressing emerging automotive demands, 
ensuring that the industry is prepared for future user needs. 
➢ Highlighted the importance of aligning technological strategies with real-world 
insights, merging performance engineering with user-centric design. 
 
• Mr. Sampat Hegde: (from Bosch, “Software Defined Vehicles”) 
➢ Emphasized that modern vehicles are increasingly defined by their software, enabling 
continuous updates, improved safety features, and superior connectivity.  
➢ Showed how cross-domain integration through software can break traditional 
boundaries, paving the way for agile adaptations and enhanced autonomous 
functionalities. 
 
• Shailesh Sakri: (from HARMAN International, “In-Cabin Experience 
in the Car”) 
➢ Illustrated how mixed reality and advanced personal audio systems can transform the 
in-cabin environment into a dynamic, interactive space. 
➢ Demonstrated that by integrating cutting-edge infotainment and connectivity solutions, 
vehicles can offer a more engaging and safer passenger experience. 

Harman International 
Each speaker’s contribution was central to the event’s success, offering valuable industry 
perspectives that complemented the academic context of the symposium.  
 
Feedback and Learning Outcomes 
• Positive Feedback: 
➢ Attendees appreciated the depth of knowledge shared by the speakers and the relevance 
of the topics to future trends in vehicular technology and intelligent transportation. 
➢ Many participants expressed enthusiasm about further engaging with the IEEE VTS 
Student Branch Chapter and subsequent events. 
• Areas for Improvement: 
➢ A few participants suggested incorporating more interactive activities or live 
demonstrations to complement the technical discussions for deeper engagement 
throughout the event. 
➢ Enhance strategies to convert high registration numbers into actual attendance by 
sending timely reminders and possibly even offering incentives.  
 
Event Logistics and Technical Execution  
• Registration and Communication: The registration process was efficiently managed, 
and pre-event communications successfully built initial interest. 
• Venue and Facilities: Krishna Hall provided a conducive environment with excellent 
AV support, media support for both presentations and networking. 
• Refreshments and Networking: The quality and timely provision of coffee, snacks, 
and lunch helped maintain a positive atmosphere and facilitated good networking 
opportunities. 
• Technical Setup: All technical aspects ran smoothly, ensuring that presentations and 
digital media were delivered without interruption. 
 
Conclusion  
The inauguration of the IEEE VTS Student Branch Chapter, along with the technical talks on 
“Vehicular Technology proved to be a milestone event that significantly advanced the dialogue 
on next-generation automotive technology and intelligent transportation. The blend of 
visionary insights, practical industry experience, and active participant engagement has set a 
strong foundation for future activities. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all speakers, attendees, 
and organizers who contributed to the success of the day and support from Amrita School of 
Engineering, Bengaluru.  
The event’s success not only marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the IEEE 
VTS Student Branch but also ignited a spirited conversation on technology’s role in shaping

  • Emphasized that modern vehicles are increasingly defined by their software, enabling continuous updates, improved safety features, and superior connectivity.

   Shailesh Sakri (Sr. Director, Mixed Reality Personal Audio, HARMAN International) shared industry perspectives on “In-Cabin Experience in the Car”, by providing insights on integrating mixed reality and advanced audio technologies, emphasizing the evolving landscape of infotainment and safety features in vehicles.

   Highlights:

  •     Illustrated how mixed reality and advanced personal audio systems can transform the in-cabin environment into a dynamic, interactive space.
