IEEE Summer of Code is a premier open-source initiative designed to empower students and professionals by fostering contributions to impactful open-source projects. This event provides a competitive environment, hands-on development experience, and networking opportunities with industry leaders & peers. Participants will collaborate on real-world projects, refine their coding skills, and compete for rewards.
IEEE Summer of Code (SoC) is your ultimate gateway into the open-source universe, crafted by IEEE CS BMSIT&M in collaboration with the IEEE BMSIT&M & Sponsored by IEEE Young Professionals.
Over seven weeks, you’ll dive headfirst into live projects that solve real problems, working with a vibrant hybrid community.

- Meet IRL during “Meet & Code” sessions where ideas spark over coffee & whiteboards

Event Structure:
- Open-source repositories will be released on 9th May 2025.
- Participants must select tasks from the available repositories and submit meaningful pull requests (PRs).
- Contributions must commence only after the official release of the repositories.
Contribution Guidelines:
- All contributions must be original. Plagiarism, spam PRs, or irrelevant commits will lead to immediate disqualification.
- Only reviewed and accepted pull requests will be considered.
- Each participant must make a minimum of two valid contributions to be eligible for a certificate of participation.
- Points will be awarded based on the difficulty, quality, and impact of contributions.
- Final evaluation and decisions will rest with the organizing committee.
Offline Networking Opportunities:
- Two Meet-and-Code offline sessions will be organized during the event to facilitate:
- Hands-on collaboration
- Doubt clarification
- Networking with peers, mentors, and industry experts
Rewards:
- A total prize pool worth ₹75,000, including:
- Cash prizes
- Certificates
- Exclusive swags
- Mentorship opportunities
Platform Details:
- Contribution Platform: All open-source contributions will be made through GitHub. Participants are required to have an active GitHub account.
- Communication Platform :Official communication, announcements, mentorship interactions, and query resolutions will take place on the IEEE SoC Discord Server. Participants must join the server upon registration to stay updated.
