Abstract:

This lecture delves into the intricacies of GNSS data and the Receiver Independent Exchange (RINEX) format, providing a comprehensive understanding of the standard interchange format crucial for GNSS data interoperability. We will explore the history and evolution of RINEX, emphasizing its various versions. Additionally, we will cover practical techniques for editing RINEX observation files and leveraging RINEX in online processing services.

Furthermore, the lecture will introduce Geoscience Australia's (GA) extensive public repository of GNSS data from continuously operating reference stations across the Asia-Pacific region. This repository not only defines Australia's national datum but also contributes to the International GNSS Service (IGS) and supports numerous academic, governmental, and industrial projects. We will discuss GA's pioneering event-driven GNSS data management system hosted on Amazon Web Services, which enables users to discover, interact with, and extract over 150 million RINEX files using traditional FTP, SFTP, and secure HTTP APIs, ensuring a minimum monthly uptime of 99.99%.
