The presentation will be in English / La présentation sera en anglais.

Abstract :

Active Alignment for Photonics Assembly is a key technology in high-precision manufacturing. It ensures sub-micron accuracy by continuously optimizing component positioning in real time. Unlike passive alignment methods, Active Alignment uses live optical feedback to achieve the highest possible performance. The technology is essential for applications that demand exceptional optical precision, including Camera modules & LiDAR systems, Laser beam shaping & external cavity resonators, Optical fibers & photonic integrated circuits (PICs), and Medical imaging & high-performance optics. This tutorial talk will provide an overview of Active Alignment for Photonics Assembly, key features and applications of the technology, and an opportunity for discussion with the presenter.

Biography:

Sebastian Haag is CEO and co-founder of AIXEMTEC – an innovative supplier of automated testing and packaging equipment and services for electro-optical systems. The company is located in the area of Aachen, Germany, close to RWTH Aachen University – one of the most excellent engineering universities in Germany where Sebastian studied Electrical Engineering. Afterwards, he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT and focussed on the automated assembly of electro-optical systems such as laser collimation, fiber-coupling, structured light projection and many more. Sebastian’s team developed a highly-flexible machine platform which can easily be adapted to multiple applications which is now commercialized by AIXEMTEC. Today, AIXEMTEC is part of the Schunk Group – a global hidden champion in high-tech materials and machinery.
