Hard Hat Tour of new Speed School of Engineering Building
Please join us for the upcoming hard hat tour of the new Engineering Building in progress. The new building footprint is approximately 115,000 sq feet and is designed to enhance student success. The facility will be a student nexus for all engineering students across the Speed Campus. A conservative estimate for daily foot traffic for the building is 1,680 plus University and Speed School Special Events.
The next two tours are Friday, June 13 and 27, 2025. Golf carts meet behind the J.B. Speed Building to take participants to the construction site at 11:45am for the noon tour. Closed toe shoes are recommended. Speed School graduate, Jacob Brown (Civil Engineer and Building Project Manager) will conduct your tour, outlining construction completed to date including the geothermal wells, the independent power grid, the microgrid controller, next steps and timing for the new facility to open for students.
Following the tour, there will be a quick boxed lunch in Henry Vogt conference room 318 where there will be a brief discussion with the Dean on sustainability, the building as a living lab for both students and faculty and answer any additional questions you may have.
