Vigyaan is a two-day interactive workshop aimed at igniting scientific curiosity, expanding awareness of STEM careers, and introducing the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence to students – celebrating IEEE WIE Day 2025. The event is designed to motivate and empower young learners, especially those from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, by connecting science and technology concepts with real-life applications and future career opportunities
Day 1: Exploring Science, STEM, and Future Opportunities
The first day focuses on establishing a strong foundation in STEM fields and career paths. It begins by sparking curiosity about science and innovation through relatable stories of technological evolution and key inventions. Participants explore how everyday objects have transformed over time due to scientific advancements.
Students are introduced to the four main STEM branches - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - and the variety of careers each branch offers. This broad exposure helps students envision diverse futures in fields such as research, software development, engineering design, and data analysis.
The workshop also provides vital information about scholarships and support systems, including national and state-level portals, to empower students from economically weaker sections. It offers guidance on applying for financial aid, emphasizing document preparedness and mentorship.
Furthermore, the session raises awareness about major competitive exams like NTSE, JEE, NEET, KCET, and others, presenting them as opportunities rather than pressures. Students learn about available free or low-cost coaching options through community organizations and state initiatives, enabling access to quality preparation resources.
