The meeting will discuss the 2025 Colorado Springs Cool Science-Carnival Day, Sep 27 () . So please mark your calendar- Cool Science is set to host our 16th annual Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival from September 27th thru October 12th 2025, with the Cool Science Carnival Day at UCCS on Saturday, September 27th. It will feature 16 days of fun and engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) events taking place throughout the Pikes Peak Region. Note: we can accommodate more guests and kids since ENT conference room is much larger, consisting of one main conference area and 3 breakout rooms (COOL rooms)
C1 is for STEAM intro demos for kids and parents to explore.
C2 is for evaluating new STEAM kits for possible purchases in the future for the section
C3 is planned for newcomers who entered this initiative after 17 Mar 2025.

π What’s This All About?
Led by Dr. John Santiago, past IEEE Faculty Advisor (CTU, 2007–2019) and IEEE Pikes Peak Chair (2019–2023), this initiative will focus on:
β Developing 10 interactive workstations for the educational community outreach, featuring hands-on demonstrations from past student projects and new STEM/STEAM experiments.
β Participating in local STEM/STEAM outreach programs, including:

In addition to hands-on activities, please bring your laptop for hands-on activities on physics PhET Demos | IEEE Pikes Peak Section and math simulations (PhET Demos – Math | IEEE Pikes Peak Section) as well as some demos of AI-assisted image generation.
Biography:
Dr. John Santiago served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force as a research and development engineer, as well as an engineering manager, gaining leadership & technical experience in many engineering disciplines, systems & missions: large flexible space structures, communications, electro-optical systems, high-energy lasers, missile seekers, image recognition, information technologies, space, air & missile defense & homeland defense.
He retired again during 2019 from an 18-year career as a full-time professor, including over 4 years at the USAF Academy. John is continuing to work with the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN), a collaboration of 40+ universities & colleges while publishing several papers at the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) using the KEEN framework.
The framework combines the technical skill sets & the entrepreneurial mindset, to revolutionize the teaching of engineering.
As a professor of electrical & systems engineering, he taught 40+ courses in engineering, physics & math including 12 graduate courses, authoring 50+ papers, presentations & receiving several educator awards.
