  Speakers

MathWorks

Topic:

Automating and Quality Controlling Grid Connection Studies and Renewable Energy Power Plant Model Validation

Automating and Quality Controlling Grid Connection Studies:

Discover an automated workflow (for quality controlling AEMO DMAT/GPS studies) that automatically validates the requirements, performs parameter optimisation, builds documentation, and works with AEMO recommended packages.

Renewable Energy Power Plant Model Validation:

Explore the model validation process for renewable energy systems using replay of field data. Automatically tune parameters to create a digital twin that accurately emulates real system performance.

Biography:

Dr Muhammad Ali is an Application Engineer at MathWorks working with Simulink and Simscape. Ali has a background in renewable energy integration and microgrids. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UNSW

MathWorks

Topic:

AI Workflows for Analysing Medical, Aerial and Satellite Images and Reinforcement Learning with MATLAB and Simulink

AI Workflows for Analysing Medical, Aerial and Satellite Images:

Discover how MATLAB streamlines medical and aerial image analysis— from importing, visualizing, segmenting, and labeling image data, to training AI models and generating production-ready code.

Reinforcement Learning with MATLAB and Simulink:

Explore how RL lets computers learn complex tasks through trial and error in dynamic environments. This approach enables decision-making without explicit programming or human intervention.

Biography:

Dr Emmanuel Blanchard is a Senior Education Engineer at MathWorks. He was a Lecturer in Mechatronics at UOW before joining MathWorks in 2014. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.

MathWorks

Topic:

A Common Platform for Academia and Industry

Low-Code Data Analysis: Discover MATLAB’s low-code tools for efficient data analysis, including data import, visualization, manipulation, machine learning, and integration with Python—all with minimal coding.

Biography:

Daniel Lim has been at MathWorks for the last 19 years managing its business relationships with both Industrial and Academic users. He holds a B. Eng in Electrical Engineering from Swinburne.

University of Wollongong

Topic:

Interfacing of Digital Hardware Using MATLAB

Interfacing of Digital Hardware Using MATLAB: Explore Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation and full-scale prototype development using digital hardware platforms such as Arduino, Texas Instruments DSP, and dSPACE.

Biography:

Dr Rabiul Islam is an Associate Professor in Electrical Power Engineering at UOW. His research focuses on power electronics, renewable energy systems, and future power grids. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UTS.

Mr Shuvra Biswas is a Ph.D. researcher and Associate Lecturer in Electrical Power Engineering at UOW. His research focuses on power electronics and grid connection and synchronization of renewable energy units.
