Global Glow 2025 returns for its second consecutive year as a celebration of IEEE Women in Engineering Day, aligning with the global theme “Pioneering Safe Cyberspace: Bridging Technology and Light for Security.” Organised by the IEEE WIE Affinity Group of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the IEEE WIE Affinity Groups of Bangladesh, New Brunswick, Huntsville, and Denmark, this hybrid event will feature a lineup of sessions, all centred on the theme of cybersecurity.

Global Glow offers a unique platform for IEEE WIE members worldwide to connect, engage in meaningful dialogue, and explore the future of cybersecurity together.

Biography:

Celia Shahnaz, SMIEEE, Fellow IEB, received Ph.D. degree from Concordia University, Canada and is currently a professor at, Department of EEE, BUET, Bangladesh since 2015. She was the winner of Canadian Common Scholarship for pursuing her Ph.D study in Canada and recipient of Bangladesh Academy of Science Gold Medal for her contributions in science and technology. The World Academy of Science (TWAS) members have elected her as a Fellow of TWAS for the advancement of science in developing countries, effective 1 January 2023. Recently, her nomination has been approved and she has been inducted into IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu as a Professional Member into the Eta Chapter of the Board of Governors. She has been selected as 2025 IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor. She has been appointed as 2025-26 Chair, IEEE WIE Nominations and Appointments. She has been elected as 2022 IEEE WIE Committee Chair-Elect and she has served as the 2023-2024 IEEE WIE Committee Chair.
