This presentation showcases a collection of lessons learned from the grid interconnection study process in Australia. Australia’s grid provides an interesting case study due to aspects such as its rapid adoption of renewable energy resources, open electricity market, regions of low system strength and extensive grid interconnection study process. The lessons learned are presented from the perspective of an electrical engineer ‘on the coal face’ of completing the grid interconnection studies and are an honest reflection of what has worked well and what could be improved. The lessons learned cover topics such as the tools used to complete the studies, quality of site-specific models and collaboration between developers/consultants/OEMs/utilities.

About the Speaker:

Jarman is a co-founder at gridmo, a software company which is helping engineers to interconnect 30GW+ of generation to the grid. He is an Electrical and Computer Systems Engineer who has worked across Australia and throughout Europe in a variety of engineering, R&D and commissioning roles. In his role at gridmo, he is passionate about helping engineers connect new generation assets to the grid - quickly.
