Power Hour Session 1 - From Engineer to Leader: Owning Your Space in Tech
Power Hour is a series of inspirational and empowering sessions organised for the third consecutive year by the IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group of Sri Lanka. The series shines a spotlight on remarkable women in STEM who share their stories, insights, and experiences to inspire the next generation.
We’re excited to kick off Power Hour Season 3 with Anupama Pathirage, Director/Head of Engineering – Integration at WSO2, who will lead the first session titled: "From Engineer to Leader: Owning Your Space in Tech". The session will be carried out in collaboration with the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

From Engineer to Leader: Owning Your Space in Tech
Biography:
Anupama Pathirage is a seasoned software leader at WSO2, where she directs the development of the Integration product stack and drives innovations in the Ballerina programming language. With more than 15 years in the software industry, her career spans roles as a C++ engineer, R&D lead in low-latency finance systems, and now a leader of large-scale engineering teams
She holds a Master’s in Software Architecture and a first‑class BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, a testament to her strong technical foundation.
Beyond her leadership impact, she contributes deep technical expertise: as a key developer of Ballerina, she’s worked on the language’s compiler, runtime, transactions, data handling, and client integrations.
An advocate for continuous learning and mentorship, Anupama inspires others to grow in both their technical and leadership journeys.
