I would like to provide a brief description of John C. Hevans. His career demonstrates dexterity in leading global initiatives, strategic program management, and fostering transdisciplinary collaboration in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
One of John’s key strengths lies in conceptualizing and executing high-impact AI programs that drive stakeholder engagement and encourage innovation in AI’s ethical applications.
Throughout his career, he has successfully managed large-scale, cross-functional teams, developed comprehensive frameworks, and provided strategic direction to ensure alignment with organizational goals. He has had the privilege of representing AI initiatives at global conferences, offering thought leadership, and influencing industry standards.
John is also skilled in authoring influential publications, organizing impactful events, and creating actionable insights that transform visionary ideas into practical solutions. With a strong background in building and scaling global AI networks, driving policy influence, and bridging the gap between AI advancements and societal well-being, he continues to contribute to shaping the future of AI.

Biography:
I would like to provide a brief description of Hironori Washizaki, who is running for IEEE Computer Society President-Elect 2024. He is currently leading the directions of IEEE-CS as its 1st Vice President in 2023. Please consider your vote, as the election will close on September 11, 2023. Hironori Washizaki is a Professor and the Associate Dean of the Research Promotion Division at Waseda University in Tokyo. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at the National Institute of Informatics and works in industry as an Outside Director for SYSTEM INFORMATION and eXmotion. Since 2017, he has been leading a large-scale grant at MEXT called enPiT-Pro SmartSE, which encompasses IoT, AI, software engineering, and business. In terms of IEEE activities, Hironori currently serves as the 1st Vice President of the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS), where he leads its activities and future directions. He has been a member of the CS Board of Governors since 2021 and has led various professional and educational initiatives, including the evolution of the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) and the organization of educational courses and certifications at the CS Professional and Educational Activities Board (PEAB). He has received several accolades, including the Golden Core Member, Distinguished Contributor, and Spirit of the Computer Society Award from CS. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing (TETC), is a Steering Committee Member of the IEEE Conference on Software Engineering Education and Training (CSEE&T), and is an Advisory Committee Member of the IEEE CS flagship conference COMPSAC. He is also a Professional Member of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu and has held leadership roles as general chair and program chair for multiple IEEE conferences, including ICST, CSEE&T, and SIoT/SISA of COMPSAC. Furthermore, he has served as the Chair of the CS Japan Chapter.
Hironori’s research interests focus on systems and software engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in information and computer science from Waseda University in 2003 and has published over 120 research papers in refereed international journals and conferences, including TETC, IoT-J, EMSE, SCICO, ICSE, and ASE. He has led numerous academia-industry joint research projects and large-funded initiatives in software design, traceability, and quality assurance. Since 2015, he has been the Convener of ISO/IEC/JTC1 SC7/WG20, working on standardizing bodies of knowledge and professional certifications. Since 2019, he has also been a Steering Committee Member of APSEC.
