Simona Sacone

Topic:

"Control of traffic networks exploiting vehicle platooning: state of art, opportunities and challenges

Biography:

Simona Sacone received a master’s degree in electronic engineering in 1992 and a Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering and computer science in 1997. She is currently Full Professor of automatic control with the Department of Informatics, Bioengineering, Robotics and Systems Engineering, University of Genova, Italy, where she teaches systems theory, identification and estimation techniques, and optimization and control of logistic systems and where she acts as the Coordinator of the Ph.D. course on systems engineering. She has authored and co-authored over 150 papers published on international journals, international books, and international conference proceedings. She is a member of the IFAC Technical Committees 7.4 on Transportation Systems and 1.3 on Discrete Event and Hybrid Systems. She is the Chair of the Technical Committee on Logistics of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society. She currently serves as Editor in Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems and as Associate Editor for the IEEE Control Systems Magazine. She has acted as an Associate Editor in the IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, in the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation in the IFAC Symposium on Control in Transportation Systems, and in the IFAC/IEEE Workshop on Discrete Event Systems.

Cino Bifulco

Topic:

Research and application perspectives for harmonised adoption of communication technologies in CCAM

Biography:

Gennaro Nicola (Cino) Bifulco received the M.Sc. degree in civil engineering from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 1990, and the Ph.D. degree in transportation engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Italy, in 1993. He is currently a Full Professor with the University of Naples Federico II, where he is also the Director of the Studies for the Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering and Mobility. He is also the Coordinator of Spoke 7 (CCAM and Smart Infrastructures) of the Italian National Research Center for Sustainable Mobility. He is the author of one book on Intelligent Transportation Systems, several articles, and conference papers in the field of transportation and mobility. He holds one patent. His research interests include the modeling of driving, traveling, and mobility behaviors, intelligent transportation systems, advanced traveler information systems, advanced driving assistance systems, and cooperative connected and automated mobility. He is involved in the deploying process in Italy for developing smart roads and C-ITS solutions.
