Next Generation Reconfigurable and Energy Efficient RF Systems
Abstract – The talk will focus on the need for reconfigurability in next generation systems with focus on joint communication and sensing but not limited to it. The role of multi-purpose systems will be discussed with focus on energy reduction and different applications. RF hardware challenges and solutions will be presented in details for cmWave and mmWave bands.
Bio of the speaker: Dr. Padmanava Sen (Senior Member, IEEE) Head, RF Design Enablement Group, Barkhausen Institut, Germany. He received the B.Tech. degree in electronics and electrical communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 2003, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, in 2005 and 2007, respectively. In 2010, he joined Broadcom Corporation, Irvine, CA, USA, where he worked towards the development of phased array systems at 60 GHz frequency bands (802.11ad), for six years. Apart from Broadcom Corporation, he worked with Sayana Wireless, Atlanta, a 60 GHz startup, for three years, and at IBM Corporation, Vermont, USA, for one year. In 2018, he joined Barkhausen Institut, Dresden, Germany, where he is currently leading the RF Design Enablement Group, with a focus on joint communications and sensing. He has authored or coauthored over 80 IEEE journals and conference papers. He holds three issued U.S. patents.
