Event Description:
This 1-hour STEM dissemination session, organized by the IEEE Botswana Sub-section and SIGHT Group in collaboration with BIUST, aims to inspire and educate senior secondary students at Mabogo Junior Secondary School about local innovations in sustainable energy and transportation. The session will focus on BIUST’s Smart Battery Management Systems (BMS) for Electric Bicycles (E-bikes), showcasing real-world applications of artificial intelligence, battery technology, and clean mobility developed in Botswana. The theme, “Smarter Batteries, Greener Roads: Local Innovation for a Sustainable Botswana,” highlights how locally relevant research can drive meaningful impact. The session is designed to encourage students to pursue careers in science and engineering while fostering awareness of sustainable technologies.
