Join us for a workshop session on presenting with confidence, cohosted by the IEEE University of Melbourne Student Branch, and IEEE Women in Engineering University of Melbourne!
This session will be hosted by Dr. Champake Mendis, an alumni of the University of Melbourne, with years of experience in organising and hosting communication workshops.
We will have free food (sushi, sandwiches, bubble tea, and other drinks) for all attendees!

Workshop Abstract:
This interactive two-hour workshop, Let's Present with Confidence, is designed to empower participants with the skills and mindset needed to deliver impactful presentations. Grounded in Bloom’s Taxonomy, the session provides a structured approach to learning and applying essential communication techniques. Drawing insights from the Harvard Business Review, participants will explore proven strategies to enhance clarity, engagement, and professionalism in their presentations. The workshop includes hands-on activities aimed at strengthening key competencies such as communication, time management, and teamwork. Through practical exercises and peer feedback, participants will gain the confidence to present effectively in academic, professional, and public settings. Join us for a dynamic and supportive experience that will elevate your presentation skills and boost your overall confidence.
Bio:
Champ serves as the Honorary Professional Activities Coordinator for the IEEE VIC/TAS Section. He is an experienced Data Scientist and ICT educator, as well as an Australian Business Council-certified trainer, assessor, and presenter. With over 20 years of experience in the ICT sector—including eight years in financial services focused on superannuation and pension domains—his expertise spans industries such as finance, medical defence, education, transport, telecommunications, construction, and insurance. He holds a PhD in Computing and Information Systems and a Master of Engineering Science in Mechatronics from the University of Melbourne. Champ has authored over 20 scholarly publications, including a book, and currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Integra Technologies Inc. and an adjunct lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Australia. In his spare time, he enjoys playing table tennis and chess, and is an avid cyclist.
