Expert Talk on "Promotion of Renewable energy in Deregulated Power Industry"
We are glad to inform you that the IEEE Control System Society and IEEE Industry Application Society Student Branch Chapter MNIT Jaipur is organizing an Expert Talk on "Promotion of Renewable energy in Deregulated Power Industry" by Prof. (HAG) Yog Raj Sood, Professor at NIT Hamirpur, H.P., India.
Dr. Yog Raj Sood possesses an impressive record of over 38 years in administration, academia, and research. He earned his B.Sc. degree from Government College for Men (Punjab University) in 1980, B.E. (Honours) in Electrical Engineering in 1984, followed by an M.E. in Electrical Power Systems in 1987 from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and Ph.D. (with Artificial Intelligence Applications) from I.I.T. Roorkee in 2003. Dr. Sood began his career as a lecturer at TIET Patiala (from January 6, 1986, to July 31, 1986) and NIT Kurukshetra, Haryana (from August 1, 1986, to August 28, 1991). He then progressed to Assistant Professor at NIT Hamirpur, H.P., India (from August 29, 1991, to May 18, 2003), and subsequently became a Professor from May 19, 2003, to April 27, 2017. He has been a Professor (HAG) since April 28, 2017, teaching AI-related subjects. He has held leadership positions, including Director and Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG) at NIT Puducherry and Vice-Chancellor and Chairperson of the Board of Management (BOM) at JIIT Noida. He served in various roles such as Dean (Research and Consultancy), Dean (Planning and Development), Dean (Faculty Welfare), Dean (Industrial Research Development and Consultancy), and Head of the Electrical Engineering Department. Member of BOG, Member of Senate, Coordinator /Chief Coordinator /Professor In- charge of TIFAC – CORE, Chief Vigilance Officer, Chairman of Admission Committee and numerous other responsibilities at NIT Hamirpur and Member of Senate, at NIT Calicut (Kerala). He has delivered more than 95 keynotes/expert lectures at various international conferences, workshops, and short-term courses, in India and abroad. As an accomplished editor, he has edited four international books (three published by Springer and one by Elsevier), numerous conference proceedings, and technical reports. His experience includes chairing and participating on various selection boards for teaching and technical positions. His contributions extend to organizing and participating in various training programs, courses, and conferences. Dr. Sood played a pivotal role in developing a new PG program, the High Voltage Engineering Lab from its inception and introduced new experiments in various laboratories. A distinguished researcher, Dr. Sood has completed three MHRD research projects, as well as a TIFAC-CORE mega project worth Rs. 530 Lakhs. Thirteen research scholars have completed their Ph.D. studies under his guidance, with two more currently pursuing their doctorates. He has authored over 380 research papers in international and national journals, including SCI journals, IEEE Transactions, reputable conferences, and several book chapters. He also serves as an Editor, Editor-in-Chief, and reviewer for several esteemed professional journals.
