IEEE North Jersey Section Co-Sponsors the Talk: "Immersive experiences with XR"

This session explores the transformative potential of Extended Reality (XR) as the next major computing platform, fundamentally reshaping how we interact with artificial intelligence (AI) and experience digital content. From immersive work environments to next-generation entertainment and education, XR is poised to revolutionize multiple industries.

The speakers will delve into the foundational technologies driving XR, examine current industry trends, and highlight the critical interplay between XR and AI. They will also emphasize the essential role of test and measurement solutions in enabling high-performance, reliable XR applications—particularly on mobile devices.

In addition, the discussion will cover how advanced wireless technologies—including 5G, 5G-Advanced, and the emerging 6G—are key enablers of scalable XR adoption. The session will also address ongoing efforts by 3GPP and other industry bodies to define and support the next generation of XR experiences.

Key Topics:

  • Core technologies and fundamentals of XR

  • Emerging XR industry trends and use cases

  • Integration of AI to enhance XR experiences

  • Impact of 5G, 5G-Advanced, and 6G on XR scalability
