Seminar "Empowering Communities Through Energy Efficiency: Driving Hawaiʻi’s Clean Energy Future"
Speakers:
Caroline Carl is an experienced clean energy and climate advocate with over fifteen years project management experience in Hawaii’s dynamic energy ecosystem. As Hawai‘i Energy’s Executive Director, she oversees the planning and execution of a range of energy efficiency programs helping Hawai‘i families and businesses. She is responsible for the design of Hawai‘i Energy’s energy optimization initiatives targeting peak demand reduction and load flexibility. As part of this work, she spearheads several collaborative planning efforts with key industry stakeholders supporting the adoption of clean energy technologies. She currently serves as on the Executive Board for the Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and was a Board member of the Hawai‘i Solar Energy Association (HSEA) from 2018 - 2024. Caroline holds a B.A in Environment and Development from McGill University and a M.S. in Geographic Information Science and Technology from the University of Southern California.
Eileen L. Stewart is the Business Solutions Manager at Hawai‘i Energy, where she leads the advancement and execution of commercial energy efficiency programs. She manages commercial program performance tracking and reporting and oversees a team of Energy Advisors to deliver Hawai‘i Energy’s commercial offerings. In her five years with the Program, she has developed initiatives in energy optimization, small business grants, and Strategic Energy Management and served as an industrial energy advisor. Prior to Hawai‘i Energy, she managed operations and development at the nonprofit Hawai‘i Appleseed Center – a local advocacy organization focused on economic and social equity. She holds a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech with a minor in Green Engineering.
Melissa Onishi is an Energy Advisor with Hawai‘i Energy, where she provides consultation on energy efficiency and conservation initiatives for sectors including restaurants, grocery, agriculture, and food production and distribution. She works closely with customers to identify opportunities for energy savings, develop tailored solutions, and secure financial incentives that accelerate the implementation of high-impact efficiency measures. Melissa holds both a B.S. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
