with recent SpaceX starlink rocket deployment. Because communication satellites are generally geosynchronous, the preferred launch sites are on the equator which does not have convenient launching locations. Sea launch platforms had

to be developed to facilitate these launches.

Biography:

Walter has a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California, Los Angeles. His aerospace career involved working as a customer representative or a contractor member on a variety of Communications Satellite and Launch Systems programs. The major programs were Telesat Canada, Anik A satellite series; Intelsat Consortium and Hughes Aircraft Company, Intelsat 6 satellite series;

Boeing, Sea Launch satellite launch system development; Beal Aerospace, BA-1 launch vehicle development. While at Hughes he was a member of a 5-person team that won the prestigious Malcom R. Currie Innovations Award for reducing Hughes per program launch costs by over one million dollars. Before retiring he joined Lockheed Martin, International Launch Services division to market both the new LM Atlas 5 and the Russian Proton launch vehicles.
