Internet changed our world and had a revolutionary impact on culture, technology and our daily life. The ICT (Information and Communications Technology) infrastructure becomes critical and may substantially create positive and negative impacts on sustainability. This talk analyzes these impacts (based on recent research results), raises concerns on sustainability by taking into account the lifecycle emissions and the ethical challenges, highlights the dilemma of the supply and demand management, explores potential solutions, and addresses R&D needs and requirements through innovative (and unconventional) thinking. An interactive discussion with the event participants is expected.
