Cyber Shield: Empowering Women in the Digital World
The session focused on spreading awareness among both school and university students about the various threats present in the online world not only against women but all the people in the society. Participants were educated about cyberbullying, online crimes, threats, morphed images, and deepfakes, along with practical ways to prevent and tackle them. To ensure better understanding, the concepts were delivered through fun games and quizzes, making the session interactive and engaging. In addition, we visited schools for underprivileged students, where they were taught the basics of cybersecurity in the same interactive manner. As part of our outreach, stationery kits were distributed to over 60 students, encouraging their active participation. Looking ahead, we also plan to provide scholarships to outperforming students in the future as funds increase, to further motivate and support them in their education.
The event had a significant impact on both school and university students by enhancing their awareness of online safety and digital literacy. The interactive format of games and quizzes kept the participants highly engaged, making it easier for them to understand and remember critical concepts of cybersecurity. Many students expressed curiosity and enthusiasm to learn more about the subject, with several showing interest in joining future IEEE activities and initiatives. Our outreach to underprivileged schools created an added social impact, as students not only learned the basics of cybersecurity but also received stationery kits, which further encouraged their participation. The initiative has laid the foundation for future efforts such as scholarship support for deserving students, ensuring that the event continues to create long-term value beyond its immediate outcomes.
