MAMI WATA (MicrowAve MonItoring of WATer with Applications) Workshop, hosted by the IEEE GRSS Modeling in Remote Sensing (MIRS) Technical Committee, to be held at Sapienza University of Rome on November 20-21, 2025, in a hybrid format (in-person + remote access).

The first edition of the workshop was held at Caltech, Pasadena in December 2023, please see detailed report at: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10685176 To better engage with the students, career professionals and researchers in the field, a two-days dedicated course will be held on November 18 and 19 at the same venue, setting the grounds for the workshop activities. The workshop is open to all researchers working on water mapping and monitoring using any form of remote sensing technology, with a deeper focus on microwave sensors. A limited number of GRSS-sponsored travel grants are available upon request, and a Best Young Researcher Presentation Prize will recognize the most outstanding contribution from early-career participants. There is no registration fee, but we encourage early registration. Register asap to secure special-rate lodging (a limited number of rooms are available).

The event is organized by the MIRS TC in collaboration with REACT TC, GRSS Central-North Italy Chapter, GRSS South Italy Chapter and OES Italy Chapter. We hope to see you in Rome—or online—for two (or four) days of vibrant exchange on the future of remote sensing of surface water bodies.
