How may Artificial Intelligence Transform Education.

Dr. Raffaella Borasi

Director of the Center for Learning in the Digital Age

Frederica Warner Professor, Warner School of Education

University of Rochester

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT and its many applications have the potential to greatly impact the future of education – as they not only open up new ways to support learning and teaching, but also have implications for how we prepare students for a future society and workplace where AI will be increasingly used.  In this presentation, we will first introduce a few specific Generative AI educational applications to provide shared examples. Then we will propose and discuss a framework to identify and think about the complementary ways in which Generative AI may affect education.  We have provided some questions for our participants to think about and share their responses in a shared Google Doc (link HERE).

We will return to gain audience insight from their responses to the posed questions and then open discussion for further Q&A.

Initially trained as a mathematician and mathematics educator, Dr. Raffaella Borasi has overtime expanded her research interests to span the preparation of professionals in many different fields, what it takes to promote worthwhile and successful educational innovations, and the impact of technology on teaching and learning.

After completing 18 years as Dean of the Warner School of Education, Borasi founded the Center for Learning in the Digital Age and has served as its Director since its establishment in 2018 within the Warner School of Education of the University of Rochester.
