Creative Recycling Project: Empowering Young Innovators for Community Impact (Second Edition)
Creative Recycling Project: Empowering Young Innovators for Community Impact (Scond Edition) is a community service initiative organized by the IEEE UKM Student Branch 2025/2026 in collaboration with students of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, supported by the IEEE TryEngineering STEM Grant 2025. The program was held on 26 October 2025 at Kampung Orang Asli Jeram Kedah, Ulu Beranang, Lenggeng, Negeri Sembilan, with participants including indigenous students aged 12–16 and five parents.
Unlike the previous program held at a secondary school, the Second Edition will be conducted at an indigenous village (Kampung Orang Asli). The expected impact includes:
-
Raising Environmental Awareness – Introducing sustainable practices such as recycling to a community that may have limited exposure to structured environmental programs.
-
Empowering Local Youth – Encouraging young members of the indigenous community to develop creative solutions for local challenges, fostering innovation and problem-solving skills.
-
Strengthening Community Engagement – Building stronger ties between the university, students, and the indigenous community, promoting mutual learning and understanding.
-
Promoting Social Responsibility – Inspiring participants to take initiative in improving their community’s well-being while contributing positively to the environment.
-
Cultural Exchange – Providing students with the opportunity to experience indigenous ways of life, enhancing empathy, cultural sensitivity, and broader social awareness.
Through interactive workshops and collaborative activities, this project not only connects UKM students with the local community but also creates a long-lasting positive impact on indigenous students by fostering an interest in STEM fields and instilling a spirit of innovation for the future.
