STEM for school girls
The IEEE CHARUSAT Student Branch Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group organized an engaging and inspiring STEM Awareness event at S.I. Patel D. Kanya-Vidhyalay, Roon Village. This initiative aimed to ignite curiosity, promote innovation, and encourage young girls to explore the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The event served as a bridge between young minds and the possibilities that STEM education offers. It aimed to break the traditional learning barriers and introduce students to the real-world excitement of science and technology. The session began with warm introductions and enthusiastic interactions, followed by a motivational speech that encouraged students—especially girls—to pursue their dreams in science and technology, regardless of background or limitations.
Participants were then engaged through a series of fun, hands-on activities designed to stimulate curiosity and critical thinking. The Tower of Hanoi puzzle challenged their logical reasoning skills, while the crossword game introduced them to common STEM-related terms in an enjoyable format. During the paper folding activity, students learned geometric concepts through creativity and collaboration.
The event also featured a mini project showcase, where volunteers demonstrated simple engineering models and science experiments to show how theoretical knowledge can be applied practically. These demonstrations sparked many questions and excitement among the students.
