Pink October
Pink October Awareness Event – 10th Edition – WIE Affinity Group SUP’COM
The Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of SUP’COM proudly celebrated the 10th edition of its flagship Pink October event, reaffirming its commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer while creating a dynamic, interactive, and educational experience for the community.
The event began with participant check-in, during which teams of two members were formed to compete in sportive challenges.
The program officially opened with a medical talk led by Med’Doc, an association of doctors and medical students. With great clarity and passion, they shed light on breast cancer causes, symptoms, and risk factors, while also teaching participants how to perform self-examinations for early detection. This impactful session laid the foundation for the awareness theme of the day.
Following the talk, participants joined a fun and interactive quiz on breast cancer and Pink October, testing their knowledge and beginning the scoring phase for the teams.
The competition then shifted outdoors with sports activities in collaboration with SUP’Bike: in a relay-style challenge, one member of each team completed a running lap before passing the baton to their partner, who continued the race with two bicycle laps. The competitive spirit, teamwork, and energy created a vibrant atmosphere, all while strengthening the event’s awareness goals.
Meanwhile, participants had the chance to explore creative workshops, including crochet and jewelry-making, guided by skilled facilitators. These activities added a personal and artistic touch, allowing attendees to express themselves while enjoying the collaborative spirit of the event.
Throughout the day, a cheerful ambiance was maintained with music performances and a coffee break offering fresh lemonade, cake, and water, giving participants a chance to relax, socialize, and recharge.
The event concluded with great excitement as the two winning teams were announced and awarded prizes for their outstanding participation. Finally, everyone gathered for group photos, capturing the spirit of unity, empowerment, and awareness that defined this special 10th edition of Pink October.
