As part of the Two-Day Robotics Workshop organized by the IEEE Power Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter, in association with the IEEE Student Branch and the IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group, HBTU-Kanpur, this expert session will be delivered by Professor Dr. Sanjiv Kumar, Department of Electrical Engineering, HBTU-Kanpur.
The session aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and practical applications of microprocessors and microcontrollers in modern robotics. Professor Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Sir will discuss how these intelligent control devices form the backbone of robotic design, control, and automation systems. Through this session, attendees will gain valuable insights into system integration, programming logic, and real-world applications of embedded systems in robotics.

Application of Microprocessors and Microcontrollers in Robotics

Biography:
Dr. Sanjiv Kumar is a highly accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Power Electronics, Electric Drives, and Electric Vehicle Systems, with a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades.
He completed his B.E. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly in 2000. He achieved an extraordinary academic milestone by securing an All India Rank of 162 in GATE 2003, with a percentile of 99.09. Followed by an M.Tech. in Power Apparatus and Electric Drives from IIT Roorkee in 2006.
He went on to earn his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Roorkee in 2016, with a research focus on Multilevel Inverter Performance Enhancement for Induction Motor Drives.
He has:
· Supervised 9 M.Tech dissertations
· Guided over 30 B.Tech major projects
· Supervised 5 Ph.D. scholars, with 1 submitted and 4 currently ongoing
His academic footprint includes:
· 30+ research publications in national and international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, as well as IEEE conferences
· 2 authored/edited books and conference proceedings
· Participation in over 20 national and international conferences
· Delivery of 35+ invited talks and expert lectures across India
· Attendance in 50+ webinars, FDPs, workshops, and MOOCs
· Organization of 20+ professional development programs, short-term courses, and technical events
