The IEEE Black Hills PES/IAS Joint Chapter is pleased to host a guest lecture by Cory Trapp, P.E., Chief Engineering Officer and Assistant General Manager at Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative (REPC).

With over two decades of experience in the electric utility industry, Cory has led initiatives in medium voltage distribution system planning, sectionalizing, substation design, and distribution line design. Notably, in 2010 he developed a load control program that has saved more than $30 million in peak energy demand costs.

In this session, Cory will share his professional journey and provide valuable insights into Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, their role in modern utility operations, and the lessons learned from his hands-on experience. Attendees will gain both technical and practical perspectives on SCADA implementation and its impact on system efficiency and reliability.
