As the current Secretary of IEEE PES, I have had the privilege of revitalizing the PES History Committee through the proposal of a significant multiyear milestone project. Amid ongoing change, it is crucial that the IEEE PES Constitution, Bylaws, and operational documents are kept current and upheld to ensure the continued functionality and effectiveness of our organization and Governing Board.

Previously, I served as IEEE PES Vice President of Chapters (2018–2022), where I led initiatives to strengthen the PES Chapters organization. With over 800 professional and student chapters worldwide, IEEE PES serves 40,000 members through technical presentations and networking events. Under my leadership, the student chapters organization was expanded to mirror the professional chapters. Key accomplishments included launching the High Performing Student Branch Chapter Program, the Outstanding Student Chapter Award, and student chapter chair training—held virtually in 2021 and in-person in 2022 across all IEEE Regions. These efforts play a vital role in supporting the growth and sustainability of PES chapters.

The PES Mentoring Program, initiated under my leadership by the PES Student Chapters Committee, has long-term goals of supporting student retention and facilitating their transition to professional membership. This emphasizes the critical role of student chapters as the foundation and future of PES. Additionally, I implemented health tracking to drive chapter growth and improve the value delivered to members by addressing areas for enhancement.

My earlier roles include PES Regional Representative for the US and Canada and Chair of the 2013 IEEE PES General Meeting’s local organizing committee in Vancouver. As IEEE Vancouver Section Chair in 2011, I spearheaded centennial celebrations, including public outreach campaigns and publishing 100 years of Vancouver Section history. My prior service as Section Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice-Chair reflects over 20 years of dedicated IEEE and PES volunteering.
