As part of the IEEE Day,the Pinktober event was held as a heartfelt humanitarian initiative dedicated to raising awareness among women about breast cancer,emphasizing the importance of prevention,early detection,and treatment.
Organized in collaboration with Rotary Tunis Belvédère,an international organization committed to global goodwill, this event carried a powerful message of hope,strength,and unity in the fight against breast cancer.
Here’s the detailed program of the event:

9h30-10h:Welcome of guests and students

Our guests-including doctors, midwives, nurses, INSAT professors, and students were warmly welcomed. The event enjoyed a strong attendance, with a notably large number of participants.

10h-10h15: Opening speech of the event

The opening speech was delivered by the President of Rotary, the Chairwoman of WIE IEEE INSAT as well as the Director of Students Life and University relations at INSAT.

10h15-11h30: A conference presented by Dr Ben Dhiab Tarek, Head of the Oncological
Surgery Department at Institute Salah Azaiez,accompanied by his medical team The doctor gave an informative talk on breast cancer,discussing its origins,risk factors,and the latest methods for screening,diagnosis,and treatment.He also highlighted effective strategies for prevention and early detection ,emphazing the importance of awareness and proactive health measures.

11h30-11h45:Debate+Q&A

During this discussion,several participants shared their personal experiennces and raised thoughtful questions about breast cancer,its detection and treatment. The doctors provided detailed and informative answers,offering professional guidance and clarifying doubts.

11h45-12h15:A conference presented by Dr El Ghezal Hatem,Medical Geneticist
The doctor provided an explanation of the disease at the genetic level

12h15-12h45:Closing Speech

The President of Rotary officially closed the event and presented certificates of appreciation to the guests as well as to IEEE WIE INSAT
12h45-13h:Coffee Break
13h-13h30:Screening

A dedicated medical team,including doctors and midwives,carried out breast cancer screening for the women attending the event. Many women underwent screening.

Dr. Tarek Ben Dhiab

Biography:

Tarek Ben Dhiab is a distinguished academic and researcher affiliated with several leading institutions in Tunisia, including the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis and the University of Tunis El Manar. His extensive career at the Salah Azaiez Institute of Tunis spans more than two decades, during which he has made significant contributions to the field of oncology.

Ben Dhiab’s research interests cover a wide range of topics within medical oncology, with a particular focus on case studies and clinical reports that shed light on various types of cancer and treatment modalities. His recent publications include notable works such as “Cutaneous metastasis as the first presentation of lung carcinoma,” featured in the Journal of Medical Case Reports, and “A huge prolapsed cervical leiomyoma,” published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports. These contributions reflect his commitment to advancing medical knowledge and improving patient outcomes.

In addition to his research, Ben Dhiab has been actively involved in the academic community, participating in national conferences and contributing to oncology literature through various publications. His work has been recognized and supported by institutions such as King Saud University and Keele University, highlighting his collaborative efforts in the field.

Dr. Hatem El Ghezal

Biography:

Dr. Hatem El Ghezal is a highly accomplished medical geneticist with over 25 years of experience in cytogenetics and molecular genetics. A graduate of the Faculté de Médecine de Sousse in Tunisia, he went on to earn a Master’s degree from Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. El Ghezal has spent over a decade managing one of the largest diagnostic laboratories in the Middle East at Prince Sultan Military Medical City in Riyadh. He is currently leading a major genetics and diagnostics project in Tunisia with a vision to expand its impact across Africa.

Dr. Ines Houissa

Biography:

Dr. Ines Houissa is a recently graduated MD from the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis. She completed her medical training with a strong foundation in clinical practice and patient care, demonstrating dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to advancing her knowledge in medicine. As a young MD, Dr. Houissa is poised to contribute to the medical community, with a focus on delivering compassionate, evidence-based healthcare.

Dr. Souha Jaouadi

Biography:

A young doctor and medical resident at the Institut Salah Azaiez in Tunis, with a demonstrated history of working in the civic and social organization sector. Skilled in communication, writing, problem solving, social listening, and project management. Holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Faculté de Médecine Ibn Al Jazzar de Sousse, with strong academic and professional grounding in medicine and oncology.

As an Assistant Professor in Surgical Oncology at the Salah Azaiez Institute of Oncology and the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, Dr. Ghalleb Montassar is dedicated to advancing the field of cancer treatment and education.
