Internal Investigations: Methods & Pitfalls for Engineers
Internal Investigations: Methods & Pitfalls for Engineers
Workplace incidents, OSHA inspections, and pre-transaction audits can expose organizations to significant safety, legal, and reputational risk—especially when investigations are rushed or poorly structured. In this practical session, J. Larry Stine, Esq. distills decades of OSHA and compliance experience to show engineers what to do—and what not to do—when an investigation unfolds. You’ll learn how to frame scope and objectives, avoid common biases, document facts defensibly, protect privilege, manage interviews and records, and determine when to involve counsel. Real-world examples illustrate how missteps lead to costly consequences and how disciplined methods safeguard health, safety, and welfare. Ideal for engineers, EHS leaders, managers, contractors, and students seeking actionable investigation playbooks.
Format: ~35–40 minutes + 10–15 minutes Q&A.
