The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical objects equipped with sensors, software, and connectivity that enables them to collect and exchange data over the internet. an IoT-based smart system builds on this by layering logic, analytics, and actuation over sensor data so that it can monitor, control, or optimize environments automatically. At its core such a system includes devices & sensors that gather information (e.g. temperature, motion, pressure), a communication infrastructure (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5G / LPWAN etc.) to transport that data reliably, and computational layers that process or analyze incoming data (often using cloud or edge-computing resources)
