1. Introduction
The IEEE ComSoc Student Leadership Conference – MUET SBC 2025 was organized by the IEEE ComSoc MUET Student Branch Chapter in collaboration with the IEEE ComSoc Karachi Chapter. The event gathered professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, and students to discuss the evolving landscape of communication technologies and leadership in the digital era.
Held on October 17, 2025, under the theme “Innovate, Lead, and Connect: The Future of Communication Technologies,” the conference focused on next-generation systems, innovation-driven entrepreneurship, and youth leadership. The one-day program featured keynote talks, technical sessions, an interactive AI workshop, and a networking dinner celebrating IEEE Day 2025 at Hyderabad Gymkhana.
2. Objectives
The conference aimed to:
Provide insights on recent advances in communication technologies.
Foster leadership and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
Strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.
Enhance the visibility of IEEE ComSoc initiatives.
Celebrate IEEE Day through professional engagement and networking.
3. Inaugural Session
The event began at 9:00 AM with registration and guest arrival. After Quran recitation, Dr. Umair Ahmed Korai, Chair IEEE ComSoc Karachi Chapter, delivered the Welcome Address, highlighting IEEE ComSoc’s mission to advance connectivity and leadership. The Chief Guest emphasized interdisciplinary collaboration and the societal importance of communication technologies.
4. Technical Sessions
Session 1: Leadership and Funding Opportunities in IEEE SIGHT
Speaker: Engr. Moiz Rahman Memon – Chair, IEEE SIGHT Karachi Section
Time: 10:30–11:10 AM
Engr. Moiz discussed IEEE SIGHT’s funding and leadership programs supporting humanitarian technology projects. He showcased successful initiatives in renewable energy and education, encouraging participants to lead community-focused engineering projects.
Session 2: Turning Innovation into Action – The Journey of a Young Entrepreneur
Speaker: Engr. Mohsin Kareem – CEO, Pak Bioenergy
Time: 11:10–11:40 AM
Engr. Mohsin shared his entrepreneurial journey from student to CEO, emphasizing resilience, creativity, and sustainability. He encouraged youth to transform ideas into impactful startups using digital and engineering tools.
Session 3: 5G New Radio – The Intersection of Innovation and Technical Leadership
Speaker: Engr. Muhammad Hassan Chachar – Technical Auditor, ZTE Telecom
Time: 11:40 AM–12:10 PM
Engr. Hassan explained 5G NR architecture, deployment challenges, and leadership’s role in telecom innovation. He discussed Pakistan’s 5G readiness, spectrum management, and essential skills for engineers entering the telecom industry.
Session 4: Leadership and Entrepreneurship in the AI Age
Speaker: Mr. Asif Zaheer Shaikh – Senior Manager, HBL
Time: 12:10–12:45 PM
Mr. Asif explored how AI reshapes industries and leadership, urging future engineers to embrace data-driven decision-making. He demonstrated how AI and automation drive financial and business transformation, inspiring participants to adapt to emerging digital ecosystems.
Session 5: Workshop – Building RAG AI Agent for Businesses (No Coding Required)
Speaker: Engr. Abrar Hussain – CEO, CodePro Software House; Founder, TechBridge Institute
Time: 02:15–04:00 PM
This hands-on session introduced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and practical AI applications for business automation. Participants learned prompt engineering, data integration, and chatbot development without programming, gaining firsthand exposure to applied AI innovation.
5. Certificate Distribution
After the technical sessions, certificates were awarded to speakers, volunteers, and attendees for their active participation, followed by a group photograph symbolizing collaboration and unity among participants.
6. Hi-Tea and Networking
The Hi-Tea session allowed students to interact informally with professionals, discuss career paths, and explore collaboration opportunities. It served as an effective networking and mentorship platform.
7. Evening Panel & IEEE Day Celebration
At Hyderabad Gymkhana, a Panel Discussion on “Empowering the Next Generation – Leadership and Innovation in Communication Technologies” gathered experts from academia and industry. They discussed nurturing innovation-driven leadership in Pakistan’s telecom and AI sectors.
The session was followed by the IEEE Day 2025 Cake Cutting Ceremony, celebrating IEEE’s global mission of advancing technology for humanity. The evening concluded with a networking dinner, strengthening professional connections among participants and guests.
8. Outcomes and Impact
The conference successfully met its goals by:
Deepening student understanding of emerging technologies and leadership.
Raising awareness of IEEE ComSoc and SIGHT initiatives.
Strengthening academia–industry linkages.
Enhancing student confidence and teamwork through workshops and discussions.
Promoting IEEE’s values of professionalism, innovation, and community service.

Biography:
Vice President – SME & Commercial Banking | Islamic Finance Expert | Visiting Faculty
Mr. Asif Zaheer Shaikh is an accomplished banking professional with over two decades of experience in credit analysis, risk management, and Islamic finance. He currently serves as Vice President SME & Commercial Banking at Habib Bank Limited (Islamic Banking), where he leads strategic business development of Islamic Finance
Mr. Shaikh holds a Master’s in Development Policy (Finance) from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, South Korea, and an MBA in Finance from ISRA University, Pakistan. His academic background is complemented by a Certificate in Islamic Commercial Law from CIMA, UK.
In addition to his banking career, he has served as Visiting Faculty at leading universities including SZABIST and Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, teaching courses of management sciences
He has represented Pakistan in multiple international conferences and capacity-building programs in South Korea, Australia, and China, and has been recognized with the Global Ambassador Scholarship, G20 Scholarship
Mr. Shaikh’s research interests include Islamic microfinance, financial inclusion, and leadership in the AI era, and his works are published in peer-reviewed international journals.
