IEEE DAY - BMSCE IEEE SB - Day 1 - Xtreme 101: A 10-Day Bootcamp to Think, Solve and Code like an Engineer
Day 1 of “Xtreme 101: A 10-Day Bootcamp to Think, Solve and Code like an Engineer” was conducted by Dr. Jyothi S Nayak, Professor, Department of Computer Science, B. M. S. College Of Engineering, Bangalore.
Dr. Jyothi ma'am began by introducing students to Competitive Programming, explaining its definition and why it plays an important role in strengthening coding skills. She provided an overview of popular coding platforms such as Codeforces and LeetCode, helping participants understand how to get started with online contests and practice problems.
The session also covered common errors that beginners often face, along with useful tips to avoid them. To make the session practical, Dr. Jyothi ma’am discussed quick coding basics, sharing how to approach problems efficiently and think logically under time constraints.
Participants actively interacted in session, asking questions to ma'am, which made the experience insightful. With over 150 participants attending online, the session successfully set the tone for the upcoming days of the bootcamp.
Outcomes: Participants gained understanding of the fundamentals of problem-solving and the mindset required for Competitive Programming. As the first day, this session provided a learning environment for the upcoming day of Xtreme 101 and most importantly IEEEXTREME 19.0 .
