The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KSSEM, in association with the IEEE KSSEM Student Branch, organized the “Clash of Minds - Debate Competition” on 9th October 2025 at the Aryabhata Seminar Hall. The event was scheduled from 2 PM to 4 PM and aimed to provide an engaging platform for students to express diverse viewpoints on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on society and the environment.
Participants were divided into two teams advocating for and against AI. The debate followed a structured format featuring opening statements, rebuttals, judges’ questioning, and closing remarks. The judges critically evaluated argumentation, delivery, and content, while encouraging ethical and analytical discussions.
Key discussion points included AI’s benefits in healthcare, education, defense, and sustainable resource management versus concerns about privacy, ethical issues, job displacement, and misinformation. The interaction fostered critical thinking, awareness of AI’s societal implications, and responsible use of technology.
